“Uneasy”
Uneasy is a photo series showcasing my personal reflections and emotions on dealing with an abusive relationship and the trauma that haunts me. In this photo series, this project highlights the four years of the relationship. It explores how love, sex, and loss can be manipulated through self-portraiture and nudity. The rose, being one of the key symbols throughout my work, symbolized my purity being slowly picked away. Only to be “revived” in a beauty that is neither genuine nor lasting. The rose, once vibrant and whole, becomes a fragile reminder of the pain endured, its petals scattered as a testament to resilience and the ongoing journey toward healing and self-discovery. The color red plays a crucial role in the series, representing passion, intensity and touch. Whether it's the handprints vibrantly staining my skin and memory, or the color of romance, the red hues evoke both the intensity of "love" and the pain it can inflict. The series captures the duality of love and destruction, of myself. Each image captures the tension between connection's beauty and the pain it can cause. It emphasizes the strength required to rebuild oneself after emotional and physical harm.
